fountain_es3310.jpg
This picture was taken using the DigiCam ES3310 and it shows
a beautiful fountain rising in the midst of a pond. I took it during the
afternoon, so you can imagine the area is brightly lit by sunlight. Notice that
the water sprays and droplets in the fountain are blurred and not distinct? If
you take a look at the same picture taken by the Olumpus D580
here, you will know what I mean. In the picture taken by the
OlympusD580, you can see the water droplets of the fountain very clearly while
this is not so for that taken by the DigiCam ES3310.
One reason for the difference could be that the exposure time
is longer for the blurrer picture because the water droplets are moving very
fast. However in this case, the ES3310 picture has shorter exposure time of
1/2048 sec compared to that for the D580, which is 1/320 sec. Also, the
aperture size and ISO used by both cameras are roughly the same when taking the
picture of the fountain. So, I guess this blurring of details is probably
introduced by image processing algorithms used by the ES3310. Another reason
could be that the lens used by the ES3310 is not as good as that used by the
Olympus D580 camera.
If you take another look at the region marked by the red
rectangle, you will find that it is not possible to distinguish the top of the
fountain from the sky. I am sure the picture would look more fantastic if I am
able to distinguish clearly the shape of the fountain.
If you compare this picture with the same one taken using the
D580 here, you will find
that the colors of the building marked by the blue rectangle above seems faded
compared to that taken sing D580. The pictures taken by the Olympus D580 camera
appear to have fresher colors compared to those using DigiCam ES3310.
Finally, the region marked by the green rectangle above looks
very dark. However, it is not so when I was taking the picture. This shows that
the ES3310 is not able to handle situations where there are wide differences in
lighting conditions very well.
