reservoir_es3310.jpg
This picture shows a far away shot of a reservoir taken using
the DigiCam ES3310 digital camera. if you take a close look at the region in
the shadows marked by the red rectangle in the image above, you will find that
the region is all black. Thus, there is a loss of details in the area under
shadows for this picture. I knew that that region was not so dark when I was
taking the picture. Another region that shows a loss of contrast is marked by
the black rectangle in the above image. This time, it is due to the bright
sunlight in that region. Thus it seems that in this picture, the ES3310 was not
able to handle the details in both dark and bright regions at the same time.
This picture was taken using an aperture size of f3, shuttle
speed of 1/1024 sec, and ISO rating of 100. Another picture, taken under the
same lighting conditions and using the Nikon Coolpix 5700, looks better in
terms of exposure and it is shown below.

reservoir_es3310_5700.jpg
This picture taken using Nikon 5700 has better contrast as
well as fresher colors compared to the one above by ES3310. The settings used
are aperture size of f7.1, exposure time of 1/310 sec, and ISO rating of 100.
However, the details of the trees in the shadows on the left side of this
picture are still not brought out properly. This is probably because the
aperture size setting is quite small when taking this picture.
