undertree_es3310.jpg
This picture was taken using the DigiCam ES3310 digital
camera. It was taken under the canopy of a tree, so therefore the lighting is
very dim and there are only some bright rays of sunlight piercing through the
gaps of the leaves. The settings of the camera when taking the picture are:
aperture size=f3, ISO rating=100 and exposure time=1/4096 sec. I feel the
picture quality is poor. The leaves under the canopy becomes very dark because
of the dim lighting conditions when the picture was taken.
However, the results of picture is also partly due to my
fault. I had used normal mode to take this picture and failed to notice that
the exposure time was set to be so short, thus allowing insufficient light to
reach the camera sensors. However, the aperture size is f3, which is larger
than usual, allowing more light to enter the camera. Compared with the
same picture taken with Olympus D580 under the same lighting
conditions, this picture looks worst. Since both pictures were taken with the
cameras set on auto mode, the Olympus D580 seems to make better choices for
exposure settings under dim lighting conditions.
