wall_es3310.jpg
Here is a picture of a curving red wall taken using the
DigiCam ES3310. The purpose for taking this picture is find out whether the
camera introduces any noise when taking pictures of flat surfaces. If you take
a close look at the full size picture of the curving red wall , you will find
that there are specks of fine grained noise all over the image. The regions
marked by the green rectangles in the image above are some examples where you
can see the noisy very clearly. Obviously, these noise are introduced during
the processing of the picture by the camera itself.
On first glance, this picture looks quite decent. However, I
find that the quality of this camera pales in comparison to the same picture
taken by the Olympus D580, which is available
here. The one taken by the Olympus D580 is sharper and also less noisy.
If you take a close look at the dark windows along the walls, you will find
that you can see reflections in the windows for the Olympus D580 picture.
However, in the DigiCam ES3310 picture, you will find lots of noise in the
black panes of the windows.
