Row Noise:
- There are lots of row noise all over the picture. The red row at the bottom of the picture is totally unacceptable.

Hot Pixels:
- There are also lots of hot pixels throughout the picture. These are individual white pixels that appear against a dark background. Hot pixels are caused by defective pixels and charge leakage in the image sensor itself. Below is a region where there are hot pixels.

- Below are some side-by-side comparisons with portions of the same scene taken by Olympus D580. This causes the row noise and hot pixels in the H18 picture to become more obvious. Also, the colors in the D580 picture are closer to those in the actual scene.
