Here is a picture of corridor taken using the Olympus D580 digital camera. The objective for taking this picture is to test the camera's ability to handle bright and dark areas in the same image. From this picture, one can see that the Olympus D580 does its job pretty well and the details in the dark and bright areas are clear. However, the camera seems to introduce noise in regions of the image where the light is dim and insufficient. This picture was taken without using flash. Some examples of regions where the noise can be clearly seen is marked by the red rectangles in the image above.

Also, the color seems to be washed out in some brightly lit parts of the image. This is shown by the region marked by the green rectangle in the above image. I remembered I was able to see the lines of the stone pavement min the area marked by the green rectangle clearly from the spot where I took this picture.
