sentosa_olyD580.jpg
This picture was taken during an arts performance at the
musical fountain on the island of Sentosa of Singapore. The camera used is the
Olympus D580. The picture looks very bad, but some people might say it looks
artistic. :) Take a look at the region marked by the red rectangle showing the
performer on the stage. Because the performer was moving very fast, the camera
is not able to deal with such a situation. This is because the exposure time of
the camera is longer than the movement of the performer, casuing multiple
versions of the performer to appear in the picture. This is also the result of
distortion introduced by the camera. The exposure time is 1/6 sec. The reason
as to why the exposure time is set longer is probably because the camera was
set to night-shot mode.
If you look at the night sky of the picture, you will find
that it is very noisy too. It would be better if the camera could take
night-shot pictures without the unnecessary distortion of objects caused by
fast movements. Another desirable feature is a lower signal-to-noise ratio for
the output image.
