treepink_olyD580.jpg
Here is a picture of a tree with pink flowers taken using the
Olympus D580. A similarly framed picture was also taken using the DigiCam
ES3310 and it can be found here.
The tree is actually quite far away, and therefore optical zoom is used to get
a closer shot of the tree in the centre. Even with zoom, the Olympus D580 is
able to capture the fine details clearly and maintain good contrast in the
picture. This is evident in this picture because you can see the details of the
leaves and flowers of the tree very clearly. Also, when compared to another
camera like the DigiCam ES3310, the Olympus D580 appears to perform better.
This can be seen in the comparison of the two pictures below. The one taken
using Olympus D580 has sharp and fine details near the leaves of the tree while
in the case of the ES3310, the leaves appear blurred and mixed with the color
of the pink flowers.

The region marked by the red rectangle in the image above
appears to be very noisy. It seems that the Olympus D580 has a tendency to
introduce noise in parts of the image where there is shadow or where the light
is dim. This could be because the camera is not able to handle the dynamic
range of the image well.
