wall_olyD580.jpg
Here is a picture taken with the Olympus D580 Zoom digital
camera of a curving red wall with rows of windows. In this picture, the camera
was able to capture fine details such as the vertical and horizontal black
lines on the wall, which is good. However, if you do a close up of the surface
of the wall, you will find that the walls have become very noisy and dirty.
They certainly didn't look that dirty when I was taking the picture! This is
especially evident at the bottom right hand corner of the image, marked by the
red rectangle in the image above. Feel free to download the full size picture
above into your computer and zoom in to the region marked by the red
rectangle above and you will see what I mean by noisy. On the other hand, the
same picture taken by the Nikon Coolpix 5700
will not contain such noise.
Take a look at the white walls on the left hand side of the
picture marked by the green rectangle. Yup believe me, they actually looked
grayish white when I took the picture but now, you can see that the walls look
bluish (or greenish, whichever you prefer). My point is that sometimes, the
Olympus D580 Zoom will produce false color in the image, making that region
look fake and unnatural. If you take a look at the same
picture taken by the Nikon Coolpix 5700, you will see that the false
color is gone and the walls look grayish white, their natural color.
